Over the last two terms 2nd Didsbury Beaver Scouts have been supporting Young ShelterBox. During that time we learnt a lot about the disasters that have occurred through out the world. One of the places we learnt about was the earthquake in Haiti. At this time Oxfam were promoting a poetry competition with this subject as the title. All the beavers wrote their poems and these entries were submitted.

We are very pleased to say that Jessica Moss won the competition which was judged and by the Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy. There were entries from schools all over Greater Manchester and we are very proud of her talent. Jessica attended the presentation and was awarded her certificate and prizes from Carol Ann Duffy.

Haiti
Extreme earthquake

Bad nights, dark blackouts
In Haiti
Just candle light
No electricity
Cold days
Cold nights
Running down the street
Extreme earthquake in Haiti
Buildings crushed
People stuck in ruins
