Frostbite Camp 2009

On Friday 6th February, an intrepid group from the 2nd Didsbury Scout Troop arrived at Linnet Clough with the hope of gaining their Polar Bear Badge. During the weekend, the scouts coped brilliantly with sub-zero temperatures. As the fire was an essential part of the camp, there was a constant need for the woodpile to be replenished, so axe and saw skills were well honed. We grappled with the rope assault course, did some serious tobogganing, and the highlight of the weekend was learning to skin, prepare and cook a wild rabbit. There was even time to build a huge snowman. The scouts should be commended for their good spirits, hard work and excellent scouting, they all earned their Polar Bear Badge and their Outdoor Adventure Badge.
