Philosopher's Stone

Wide Game

Overview

Teams have to go and find their team's clues of which there are five, their locations are marked on a map which they are given. Each team has a piece of coloured wool ( different for each team ) around their arm, if one of the two "Voldemorts" catch one of them and remove the wool the whole team has to return to Madam Pommfree for a new life, only one life can be taken from each team at this stage but the teams do not know this.

Once they have all five items their clues ask for they return to base and are given a word in code. They now have to find the four friendly wizards who each have the answer to one letter of the code, these wizards have been wandering around and helping during the first phase.

Once they have decoded the word they return to base. They chant the magic word as their map is put over a flame, the map reveals the location(previously marked in magic ink ) of the unicorn who guards the philosopher's stone.

First team to return with the stone wins. Each team is given a stone of a different colour.

 

Detailed method

You need at least 9 leaders to run the game.

In the game area :

4 x Helpfull wizards

1 or 2 Voldemorts

1 x Hagrid

1 x unicorn

At fixed points:

1x Dumbledore (at base)

1 x Madamme Pommfree ( fixed location can be base)

 

 

Helpfull wizards

They wander around the game area helping teams and in the second phase give out the a letter to decode the clue.

Voldemort

They try to catch one team member from any team and remove their wool life from their arm. They do not do this more than twice to each team in the whole game once in each phase. The teams do not know they will not loose more than two lives.

Hagrid

He walks around the game area helping teams, he also has items they will need from solving their clues, in phase one. He has a witches hat on, a cloak, a broom stick, a wand and some matches.

Dumbledore

He checks teams return with the five items they need and when correct he gives the team a word written in code. On the teams returning with the correct decoded word he puts the map over a candle to reveal an X on the map where the Unicorn is ( the X is already on the map put on with lemon or orange juice, lemon is best).

Madamme Pommfree

She is located at a fixed location it could be base. She hands out new wool lives which are put around the arm.

Unicorn

The unicorn does not appear as a unicorn until phase three i.e. after first team has cracked the code.To be identified he wears a horn on his head and he carries a number of coloured stones or balls, one for each team.

The team goodies bag

At the start each team is given a plastic bag with items in it some will be needed others will not e.g. baloon, a pen, piece of paper, plastic fork

The clues

Each team has a map with the locations of the clues marked on it by Xs. The location of the unicorn is marked with lemon juice.

Each team has their team colour, they look for their colour only and do not touch other colours at the five points marked on the maps. Each clue is a coloured sheet with a word on it, the word is what the team needs. The five are: Earth, air, fire, water and each team will have a different item to collect from Hagrid i.e. hat, wand, cloak, broom stick, he can also give any team a match for fire if they ask for it.
